In a house under renovation, a plumber uncovers a cellar no one knew about, and makes a rather grisly discovery -- a decapitated chicken, animal bones, and cauldrons containing beads, feathers, and other relics of religious ceremonies. In the center of the shrine, there is the skull of a teenage girl. Meanwhile, on a nearby lakeshore, the headless body of a teenage boy is found by a man walking his dog.

My thoughts: In this installment of the Temperance Brennan series, we find Tempe back in North Carolina, working on a case that involves Wiccans. I have to say that once again, it is so evident all the research that Kathy Reichs put into her books. I really didnt know much about Wiccans or Santeria and was quite interested in what we were told during the course of the investigation.
I loved how Detective Slidell was back, and that he and Tempe were forced to work together - while he may not necessarily be Tempes favorite, I do enjoy the interactions between the two of them. There was also a old high school friend that comes into Tempes life again and provides a new wrinkle in the romance department. Is this the only book he will be in or will he be around for a while?
I really do love this series and love how each book is so very different from the others. Im so close to being completely caught up and have really enjoyed getting to know the earlier Tempe. Having read the more recent books, I like seeing how some things have come to be.
Audio thoughts: I really enjoy Linda Emonds narration of this series. She narrated the previous book and I was happy to see she was narrating this one. I think she narrates the next few, which makes me happy - my biggest complaint with this series has been the inconsistency with the narrator.
